went and saw Down last night and thought they fuckin ruled. really good to see our old friend Jimmy'the power'Bower looking so well after all his troubles. sound sucked upstairs (it always does at the astoria) but downstairs it sounded alot better and i even went down the front for 'bury me in smoke'.i can't remember the last time a band has made me do that.

has anyone else been to see them?

I saw them last week in Brum Martyn.

I have to say I thought they were very boring. Each to their own though old boy.

Also, I found their opening hour long video a bit too self indulgent. How many bands would have loved to have played? I can watch MTV at home.

Was at both Astoria shows. Completely mindblowing! Of the 2 I thought the second night had the edge, t'was a defining experience.

Saw them on the Monday & thought they fucking ruled. But I also think the the film was a little unnecerssery. They should've got the The Sword out with them. Did anyone see Down at Download? I was very surprised that Phil didn't bitch about being on at 11am. It was a great way to start the day.

it's a pretty deep shithole down here in Poland. It's impossible for bands like Down to play here. I doubt they'd find the country on the map.

Well I haven't got the chance to see em either. But I guess I wouldn't like to see phil not givin a 110% of him up on stage.... so I'll just wait for the new rec and see what happens.
But hey! You still got Vader (RIP Doc) and Yattering and so. Polska DM rules man.

Now this' a band I'd love to bring back! and.... speaking of which... since their vocalist Kyle is now under the sign of the Alabama pussies, I'm eager to listen to what they're coming up with

I saw Down at Gods Of Metal (Milan) and in Paris.
Their gig at GOM wasn't exactly the best... I mean, too short and the audience sucked. I can't blame those kids, it's not their fault if Down (or EHG/Crowbar/COC) don't have a great distribution in Italy, and some of them just expected a clone of Pantera...
Anyway Phil sung with Venom too... priceless!!! ;D
But, well, it just wasn't enough for me! I waited about 10 years for seeing them live, well, I needed a proper Down show! So I did an 8+ hours train journey to Paris (w/o a concert ticket or a place to sleep!) and 2 days later I hit their gig in Paris... absofuckinglutely amazing!!!

About the long video, I wouldn't say it was self indulgent... if you're used to the Brotherhood Of Eternal Sleep and its music taste and "rites", you could see that as a gift to the fans. Yeah, maybe many bands would have loved to play with them, but so far Down played at festivals or it was just "a night with"... they respected the tradition!

Now I can't wait for Down III!!!
